Artist Biography ~ Ann Maria Bridges
As opposed to decay, the theme of Ann Maria's work is life, the ebullition of colour. A graduate of Dun Laoghaire College of Art, Ann Maria has exhibited throughout Ireland and particularly in her native Wexford. Though now living in Dublin she is more agrarian than urban. The relative absence of lineation and her interest in abstraction would seem to be the most obvious culmination of an artist not confined by style. And yet, there is nothing anonymous about her work. |

"My work can seem quite varied even to me, but standing back the main theme is always the same: Whether looking at the sea, the sky, the land, or the animals within this. Catching the mood, that feeling. Poets write about it and musicians sing about it. One sentence can say as much as a script...and so the simplest painting: that is the goal. But it's all a process and the journey is as important as arriving"
